Fort Wayne FC is atop the Valley Division, with a playoff berth for a third straight year in sight, but there’s work to be done. It starts at 7 p.m. today against Kings Hammer FC Columbus in Columbus, Ohio.
Fort Wayne FC (7-1-1) is coming off Saturday’s 2-0 loss to West Virginia United at Bishop D’Arcy Stadium, but FWFC remains very much in control of its own fate when it comes to winning the division.
It has a five-point lead over Lexington SC – both Fort Wayne FC and Lexington SC have three matches remaining – meaning FWFC needs to win only four more points in the standings to guarantee itself a playoff spot, regardless of what Lexington SC does the rest of the way.
Fort Wayne FC could clinch a playoff spot tonight with a win and a loss or draw by Lexington SC against Kings Hammer FC Cincinnati. Another playoff-clinching scenario would be a Fort Wayne FC draw coupled with a Lexington SC loss.
Tonight isn’t the first meeting of the season between Fort Wayne FC and Kings Hammer FC Columbus (2-5-1); they met May 28 at Bishop D’Arcy Stadium and FWFC won 2-0 on the strength of second-half goals by Caio Oliveira and Matthew Catavolo.
After today’s match, Fort Wayne FC will return home for Saturday’s 7 p.m. International Friendly against Atlas Fútbol Club’s Sub-23 team – which figures to be one of the must-see matches of the year.
Atlas FC is a professional club based in Guadalajara, Mexico, that plays in Liga MX, the top division of Mexican football.
Then, on July 5, Fort Wayne FC hosts another friendly against Lansing City Football – it’ll be Military Appreciation Night and all active-duty military and veterans get in free at the gate with military ID or validation of service.
Fort Wayne FC has remaining USL League Two Matches, also, at the Dayton Dutch Lions (July 9) and vs. Kings Hammer FC Cincinnati (July 12).
The club is looking to go out with a championship before moving to the professional ranks of USL League One in 2026, when Fort Wayne FC will open a new soccer-specific stadium at Bass Road and I-60 that will be the largest outdoor venue in Northeast Indiana.
