Nine matches remain in Fort Wayne Football Club’s first regular season of professional soccer, beginning 7 p.m. Saturday against Greenville Triumph SC in Mauldin, South Carolina.
And for Fort Wayne FC, the stakes are high.
With a 9-8-6 record, the Autumn Gold & Black are in the eighth and final playoff spot in the 17-team USL League One table, but AV Alta FC is only one point back and Corpus Christi FC is three points behind.

This will be the second meeting between Fort Wayne FC and the Greenville Triumph; Fort Wayne FC won 3-0 on July 18, when Ryan Becher, Lilian Ricol and Kabiru Gafar scored at Ruoff Mortgage Stadium.

Fort Wayne FC comes into the contest with wins in two of its last three matches. Greenville Triumph (6-12-5) has lost two of its last three matches.
On Wednesday, Greenville Triumph announced that head coach Dave Dixon had departed the club. He was in his first season in the post and helped the club’s transition into its new stadium, GE Vernova Park. Taking over on an interim basis is Joel Tyson, who had been an assistant coach.
Two additions have been made to the Fort Wayne FC roster in the past week through loans: Mamadi Jiana, a forward, arrived from Houston Dynamo 2 of MLS NEXT Pro; and Aleksandar Vukovic, a defender, from USL Championship’s Phoenix Rising FC. Fort Wayne FC has not yet disclosed if either will make their club debut Saturday.
Taig Healy leads Fort Wayne FC’s offense with 10 goals, which is tied for third most in USL League One play. Becher got his fifth goal in Saturday’s 4-2 loss to the New York Cosmos at Ruoff Mortgage Stadium, and Clarence Awoudor also scored on a penalty kick. Greenville’s offense has been paced by Muba Nour and Azaad Liadi, who have six goals apiece. Liadi also has a team-leading four assists in league play, while Fort Wayne FC’s Javier Armas has four.
Defensively, Fort Wayne FC’s Bernd Schipmann has a league-leading eight clean sheets and is now second in league history with 35 shutouts in his USL League One career, 12 back of Union Omaha’s Rashid Nuhu.Greenville’s Amahi Knight has four clean sheets this season for the Triumph, which has conceded the fifth most goals (38) in the league. Fort Wayne FC has allowed 29 goals.
