Fort Wayne, Ind. — Fort Wayne FC announced they will host the Michiana Lions, formerly known as the South Bend Lions, for a friendly match on July 4th at 7pm at Bishop D’Arcy Stadium on the campus of the University of Saint Francis.
Both clubs are respective members of the total 128 teams that make up the 2024 USL2 leagues. Previously playing under the same division as Fort Wayne FC, the Lions remained in the Great Lakes division while Fort Wayne FC was placed in the newly formed Valley division. This will be the first time these two powerhouse teams have met since 2022.
“We are very excited to have the Michiana Lions back on our schedule for 2024,” commented FWFC head coach Mike Avery. “The Lions’ new head coach Shek Borkowski has been my friend for more than 30 years. He’s a tremendous coach, and I know that he will build on that club’s foundation and quickly develop a very competitive team.”
“We are excited to welcome Michiana Lions and their fans back to the Fort,” Laurie Perolio-Bullinger, FWFC director of operations. “Fans can expect an intense match along with pre-game tailgating, an interactive fan experience, and great food with local food vendors plus a fireworks celebration to follow.”
Kickoff starts at 7pm at Bishop John D’Arcy Stadium located on the campus of the University of Saint Francis. Get tickets at fortwaynefc.com/tickets
