Fort Wayne Football Club has added forward Mamadi Jiana to the roster, through a loan from Houston Dynamo 2 of MLS NEXT Pro.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity and can’t wait to meet my teammates, coaches and the fans, and to help the team achieve its goals,” Jiana said.
The transaction is pending league and federation approval.
Fort Wayne FC (9-7-6) plays host to the New York Cosmos (5-14-4) at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Ruoff Mortgage Stadium.
“We are thrilled to add a player of Mamadi’s caliber to Fort Wayne FC as we enter the final stage of the regular season,” said Fort Wayne FC coach Mike Avery, whose team defeated the Richmond Kickers 2-0 at Ruoff Mortgage Stadium on Wednesday night.
“Mamadi is a player we tracked closely while he was in college, and we believe he brings some very strong qualities to the squad that will translate well to our team culture, our style of play, and USL League One.”
Jiana, 23, was a teammate of Fort Wayne FC captain Tiago Dias last season at Bryant University, for which Jiana finished third in the America East Conference with seven goals, a program record. That includes a pair of two-goal matches. He earned Second Team All-Northeast Region honors.
Jiana and Dias were also teammates at the University of Albany in 2023, when Jiana had four goals in 16 matches.
He played at Norwich University from 2021 to 2022 and totaled 17 goals and 13 assists in 30 matches. That included a four-goal performance against Lasell University. Jiana was awarded First Team All-Conference and Rookie of the Year honors, as well as All-Region honors.
Jiana was selected 54th in the 2026 MLS SuperDraft by Inter Miami CF. He signed with Houston Dynamo 2 on April 1. He played in seven matches this season for Houston.
“We have a heavy schedule of games over the final seven weeks of the season, and attacking depth is an area we knew we needed to address,” Avery said. “Mamadi comes to us at exactly the right time for his development and for our playoff push.”
Saturday’s match will be followed by fireworks. It’s also College Night; present your school identification at the ticket office and get a $10 ticket. Students are reminded to purchase their parking in advance as the lot is for prepaid customers only.
